Animal Shelter and many more worthy organisations. The concert this year is in aid of the ministry of

Jug of Punch with John and Sharon Knowles of Fynesound Sunday May 5th 3-7pm Barn Dance Fundraiser Details Why should you support the horse races in Batesland South Dakota and the Barn Dance Fundraiser On Sunday, May 5th at Full Circle Farm?
It is Chief Mel Lone Hill’s vision to put Indian youth back on horses. He felt it was a key to their reconnecting with their old traditional values, their unique heritage and their strengths as indigenous people. The Lakota were and are some of the best horsemen in America.
The Chief has given many years bringing Lakota youth together with horses. And today there are many young men and women involved in caring for and riding horses under his direction. The horse riders participate in many spirit and awareness raising activities including major horse rides that involve hundreds of riders traveling for several weeks at a time. The Sobriety Ride, the Crazy Horse Ride and the Big Horn Ride have become annual events involving the young riders, their families and many others in the community as well as supporters from outside the reservation.
Once a year during the Wakpomni Lake Pow Wow in Batesland, South Dakota, these youthful riders gather under the Chief’s direction and hold a unique horse race event. There is no fancy racetrack, no stadium - just a hayfield with a mowed track lined with the cars and trucks of the participants and spectators. During the afternoon, the riders, usually bareback, compete in races involving ancient warrior skills as well as modern racing ones. Anyone who has been to these races has seen the powerful gifts that the horse connection has brought to these youth.
Your donation to the Barn Dance Fund Raiser matters! It might help pay for hay needed during the long Dakota winters, or help repair a bridle or horse trailer or provide a horse for another youth.
With gratitude for your support, see you on the 5thand if you can’t make it, consider being a Supporter.
